HBA Toronto Member Spotlight: Cynthia Reyes  | HBA

HBA Toronto Member Spotlight: Cynthia Reyes

What is your current job title?
My current role is Chief Strategy Officer at Bang Albino Communications, a strategic marketing agency that works primarily in healthcare on a global basis.

Within the HBA, I started my journey last year with the  HBA Toronto board but am now the Regional President, Volunteer Experience for NY/NJ/CT and Canada region.

Why did you join the HBA?
I wanted to get involved within an organization where I could connect with other women with a shared vision, and find a way to make a difference. I have two daughters just entering the workforce and the HBA aligns with my personal values and the world I would like them to experience - a world that values diversity, inclusion, and helps open doors for women to excel. This is the organization that will help us raise our voices and make an impact.

I have already been fortunate to meet many amazing, gifted women across healthcare that I might never have had the opportunity to connect with. I love to attend events from all of the chapters to listen and learn from the incredible depth of talent and passion our members (both women and men) bring to the organization.

What do you enjoy the most about volunteering?
I have been so fortunate to meet and work with the many amazing women in HBA Toronto and now also with the HBA NY/NJ/CT region.

My favorite experience so far has been the development and launch of the first-ever mentoring program for HBA Canada. This is truly an amazing program that will ensure Canadian women have the support and mentorship they need to reach their goals for years to come.

And now as part of the regional leadership team, I continue to be inspired by the amazing people I meet. I know that together, we are an amazing force that will definitely continue to make an impact. Regardless of where we live, our goals are the same.

What are your interests outside of work and the HBA?
I love to travel so I cannot wait for the world to be safe and open up again. In addition to my three kids that keep me busy, I also have a 14-year old German Shepherd named Shadow. I have also been a foster mom for two rescue dogs this year.

My love of water and the outdoors has fueled my recent move out of the city and I am now within walking distance to beautiful Lake Simcoe. I cannot wait to spend the summer outdoors hiking, cycling, on the water, and then winding down with a nice glass of wine.

What or who inspires you?
Confident women who live life with authenticity inspire me. And there are so many. A few of my favorites include Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Marie Curie, Greta Thunberg, Kamala Harris, Maya Angelou, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
